July and August in inland Andalusia are genuinely punishing, and the middle of the day is not the time to be walking a plaza. Locals solve it the same way every year: cool rooms and cool caves until the sun drops, then everything happens after eight.

The Tablao Hour
A tablao is a small room with a wooden floor, a singer, a guitarist and a dancer close enough to hear breathing. Shows run about an hour, most start after nine, and the good rooms in Seville and Madrid seat well under a hundred people. In Granada the same thing happens in the cave houses of Sacromonte, where the style is called zambra.

The Free Tapa
In Granada, and in much of Jaén and Almería, ordering a drink still gets you a plate of food you did not pay for, and a second drink gets you a different one. It is a regional custom, not a national one: order the same beer in Barcelona or Madrid and the tapas arrive on the bill. A guided crawl is the fastest way to learn which bars still play it straight.

The Alhambra caps how many people enter each day, and your ticket carries a fixed half-hour window for the Nasrid Palaces.
